1994 Chateau Palmer

Palmer's 1994 is a successful wine for the vintage. The large Merlot component gives the wine a silky texture, and an up-front, sweet, black-cherry and plum-scented nose with toasty oak and floral scents. Medium-bodied, round, and nicely concentrated, this charming, elegant wine is well-proportioned and harmonious. Neither acidity, tannin, nor alcohol stand out in this well-balanced 1994. Drink it over the next 15 years. All of the wines in this segment were tasted between March 19 and March 28 in Bordeaux. Most of the important wines from both the 1994 and 1995 vintages were tasted three separate times during my ten-day stay in Bordeaux. Robert Parker
